Isom Endodontics offers IV Sedation.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

  • An extremely effective method for moderate to severe anxiety
  • It’s very quick-acting, allowing you to be at ease during the anesthetic and dental treatment process

IV Sedation

During intravenous sedation (IV sedation), an anti-anxiety drug is administered into the bloodstream to achieve a state of deep sedation. Patients typically don’t remember much if anything about their dental procedure afterwards. Throughout the IV Sedation procedure, your breathing, heart rate and blood pressure will be closely monitored. In general, patients recover quickly, although you may feel slightly groggy immediately afterwards.

STEP ONE- Making your first appointment

This is difficult for many people, so we try to make this as easy as possible to reduce dental anxiety. Simply call 503-496-4766 or email Isom Endo. Our team will answer any questions you have and ask you some simple questions to help ensure you get the care you want and deserve. When you’re ready, you can schedule a time that works for you.

STEP TWO- Welcoming visit

We gather information regarding your health and discuss with you your wants and desires. Dental imaging, X-rays, and CTCB scan will be taken followed by a thorough examination. You will never be judged or embarrassed, we know that coming into the dentist takes courage for a lot of individuals. Knowledge about sedation treatment is not only powerful—it is empowering. It is important to talk to your dentist about your fears and concerns during your consultation before any dentistry is ever performed. It is critical that you provide your dentist with an updated health history including any medications you are on, including vitamins and supplements. Factors like smoking and alcohol consumption can alter the effectiveness of sedation medications, so be sure to tell your doctor about any habits you may have.

STEP THREE- Preparing for your sedation visit

If moving forward with IV Sedation, the IV Sedation clinicians will discuss your medical history and address any questions you may have before your treatment visit. The sedation providers we partner with are credentialed, board certified, and capable of handling all anesthesia concerns.

STEP FOUR- Arriving for Treatment

Your companion will bring you to the office. Additional medications will be provided to create increased relaxation. Your experienced sedation team will monitor you throughout your entire visit. Our trained providers can perform a variety of protocols customized to your particular physiological and pharmacological needs. The medications used have amnesic properties, meaning that you remember little to nothing of your time in the dental chair. Sometimes referred to as “comfort dentistry” or “relaxation dentistry,” it describes the feeling most patients have at their appointment. Time passes quickly allowing you to receive the dental care that you need, while maintaining a comfortable environment.
